Autumn is a season for remembering those who have died - those we knew and loved - and those who died in war.
Sunday, 11th November - Remembrance Day - 10.40 am
At St Mary's, we conduct a service of remembrance for loved ones who have died in service of their country. This is held outside at the cenotaph at the front doors to the Main Church, in St Mary's Close. At this annual service, uniform groups, British Legion members, civic leaders and members of the public gather for a short service. The Venerable Archdeacon Simon Heathfield will be conducting this service. It begins at 10.40 am, followed by hot soup and rolls inside the Church Hall.
All Souls' Service in the Main Church at 3 pm
On Sunday, 4th November, at 3 pm, St Mary's will be holding a service of remembrance for the families of loved ones from this parish whom we have cared for during their time of bereavement and funerals. In conjunction with the local Co-operative Funeral Care Services, Reader Chris Barnsley will conduct a service of remembrance, followed by time together to share memories and stories of loved ones.
